Here at Fitzpatrick Fuels, we stock a comprehensive range of traditional house coal, and smokeless briquettes. We stock our products based on quality, reputation and price to ensure our selections suits all.

All of our fuels are sourced from well-know and trustworthy manufacturers, and all of our smokeless fuels can be found listed on the ‘Authorised Fuels’ list on the DEFRA website.

If you need any help choosing the right fuel to burn, you can check out our blog, or give us a call on 01484 653 768.

How to order:

Through our website, you can order the quantity of fuel that you need to suit your household. You are not restricted by pallet quantities of each product. This means that you can place an order for your coal, logs, smokeless fuel, kindling etc. in the volume that you need, from one place.

To start adding to your basket, click on the product you’re interested in, decide on the quantity that you need, and add to your basket.

What are smokeless fuels?

Most of the UK, with the exception of most rural areas, are under smoke control orders. This means that most of the UK is only permitted to burn smokeless fuels, unless you’re using an exempt appliance.

Typically, smokeless fuels are made with a combination of anthracite, petcoke and low sulphur coal. These products combined with a binding agent form a smokeless briquette/oval. All smokeless fuels are tested by HETAS and once approved are listed on DEFRA’s website, on the authorised fuel list.

The main criteria for a fuel to be authorised is that it has a sulphur content of less than 2% when burnt. For more information on smokeless fuels, you may be interested in our blog posts below:
